9/13/15: Locals now 3-1 in NPL

The Stampede picked up two more league wins over the weekend, beating MVLA, 3-1, and Juventus, 2-0, improving their National Premier League record to 3-0-1.  Sophia Karperos started Saturday's win with a quick steal and a tally after pressuring the center back in the box. Later, Jordan Davis tapped in Niya Allen's shot which was too hot for the keeper to handle. Anne Ayotte got the third and final goal from 18 on a back pass from Karperos.  Sunday's shutout featured a breakaway finish by Karperos off a through ball by Allen. Later, Ayotte walloped in a right side volley to end the game.  The Stampede travel Saturday to face top ranked Elk Grove at 2:30pm.

9/7/15: Stampede reach quarterfinals at SoCal Blues Cup

The locals made it to the quarterfinals at the So Cal Blues Cup held Labor Day weekend at the SoCal Soccer Complex in Oceanside, California. They started strong in the qualifying rounds, shutting out both the Cal Cougars, 2-0, and the Arizona Thunder, 6-0 and coming from behind to tie Real SoCal 1-1. Goals against the Cougars came from Jordan Davis at the 6 on a cross by Niya Allen and from Lily Byrne from 18 assisted by striker Talyssa Tucker. In routing the Thunder, Ainsley Carroll scored first on an Allen assist. Byrne was then hammered in the box and Davis netted the penalty for the 2-0 lead. An own-goal made it 3-0 with an assist by Anne Ayotte. Davis knocked in a ricocheting bouncer in the box to make it 4-0 and Byrne broke through the defense for the fifth tally with an assist by Skye Shaffer. Ayotte roped in a shot from 20 for goal number six. Game 3 was much more competitive as Real SoCal went ahead early. But Byrne found a way through the defense after to tie things up, securing a trip to the knockout rounds. Despite their high qualifying score, the Stampede found themselves facing the state's top ranked SoCal Blues in the quarterfinals. The locals surprised their opponent with intense hustle and offensive pressure early which paid off with a first-half goal. Ayotte whipped in a free kick from 25 and, after several blocked shots and ricochets, Sophie Karperos stepped in to bury the tally from 6 for the 1-0 lead. It was short lived, however, as the eventual tournament champions' physical dominance wore down the locals, beating them 3-1. The Stampede's impressive offensive showing was complemented by an equally tough defense led by center back Yasmeen Dmeiri, holding mid Skye Shaffer, and keeper McKenna Lutzker. Constant support and resilient play came from Leah Eccles, Sherlyn García, Lindsey Vernau, Grace Carlson, Sydney Moore and Grace Barger.

8/30/15: Stampede start NPL 1-1

The Stampede opened the Norcal National Premier League season with a win and a loss. The locals edged Santa Rosa 1-0 on a 30 foot blast by Yasmeen Dmeiri but fell to De Anza 2-0.  They face MVLA September 12th at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.

8/2/15: Stampede sizzle then fizzle at Surf Cup

The locals came out hot at this year's San Diego Surf Cup, beating San Diego Albion 4-2 in Game 1. Talyssa Tucker scored twice, first on a 10-yard volley off Yasmeen Dmeiri's cross and later chipping in a goalie ricochet.  Jordan Davis added two more, curling in goals from each side of the box, one off an assist by Sydney Moore. The locals went on to suffer a 0-1 loss on an own goal vs. the New Mexico Rio Rapids and the fell 0-3 to eventual tourney champion LA Rebels.

6/12/15: Stampede Semi-finalists in College Showcase

The locals got to the semis in the highly competitive Girls College Showcase tournament held at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex June 10-12.  Jordan Davis and Yasmeen Dmeiri each had a goal to start things off with a 2-0 shutout vs. Castro Valley in Game 1.  Lily Byrne took over Game 2 vs. Long Beach with both goals in another 2-0 win, and Niya Allen and Davis added two more in the Stampede's third straight 2-0 shutout versus Placer United.  Despite their qualifying round dominance, the locals could not overcome their 0-1 deficit when facing eventual tournament champion LA Galaxy in the first knockout round.

6/8/15: Stampede win the Norcal Cross Regionals

The locals are currently sitting atop the charts in Northern California after going 3-0 in the Cross Regional Finals held at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex over the weekend.  The Stampede made quick work of their first two opponents, shutting out both Menlo Park 2-0 and Placer United 3-0 on Saturday evening and Sunday morning with goals from Ainsley Carroll (2), Yasmeen Dmeiri (1), Jordan Davis (1) and Niya Allen (1).  The final match-up featured an exciting back and forth but the locals managed to dethrone the top-seeded De Anza Force 2-1.  J. Davis stole the ball from a flustered defender near the penalty spot early to put the locals up 1-0.  Although De Anza managed an equalizer in the second half, Anne Ayotte spoiled any chance of a comeback as she drilled another long range left footer into the left side netting for the winning goal.  Spring League and Cross Regional champs, the locals now look forward to a brief hiatus until July when they start the tough summer tournament circuit.

6/1/15: Stampede win final two games of spring regular season

The locals shut out the Cal Blues 3-0 and then sneaked by Placer United 2-1 to finish the Norcal regular spring season at the the top of Region 6.  Lily Byrne, Niya Allen and Talyssa Tucker scored in the shutout against the Blues Friday night.  The next morning, down 0-1 early, Allen volleyed in the equalizer off a corner by Jordan Davis. Then a few minutes later, Davis netted a wicked, sinking volley from 30 for the win.
